Barcelona warned over top target Lautaro Martinez's Inter Milan release clause: 'It expires on July 7'

Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta has warned Barcelona that signing striker Lautaro Martinez this summer may be more difficult than they think.

The Argentine attacker has a €111million (£98.8m) release clause in his current contract, but Marotta has revealed that agreement will be null and void in under a month.

“There's a clause that expires on July 7," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"We'll see what Barcelona want to do first and then we will sit down at the table with the player and we will see what we will do."

Marotta stated that he would like Martinez to stay at San Siro and hopes the former Racing forward remains focused on his current club amid all the speculation.

"We want to strengthen the structure of the team, which has several important players," he said. "One of those, without doubt, is Lautaro.

"Now it's important he remains focused in order to make his contribution."

But he added: "If he leaves, a better player will arrive."
