Barcelona were hoping tonight’s showpiece would be the second step en route to a historic treble, with the Champions League Final next weekend.
Their horrific capitulation at Anfield earlier this month put an end to that, but having retained the league title Ernesto Valverde’s side are still on course for a domestic double.

Valencia, meanwhile, missed out on the Europa League Final after defeat to Arsenal and are out to win their first silverware since the 2007-08 season, where they defeated Getafe in the final of this competition.
