Barcelona vs Real Madrid XI: The line-ups we expect to see in El Clasico

Barcelona will be without Arthur and Ousmane Dembele for tonight's Clasico clash against Real Madrid at Camp Nou.

Arthur is still suffering from a pubis problem sustained on international duty last month and did not train on Tuesday.

The Brazilian midfielder has not featured since the 1-0 win at Atletico Madrid on December 1 and needs further time out to recover.

His place is likely to be taken by Ivan Rakitic, who has started Barcelona's last five matches.

Dembele is also still sidelined with a thigh injury picked up against Borussia Dortmund in November and will not return to action until next year.

Otherwise, Barcelona’s squad is as expected, with Moussa Wague, Jean-Clair Todibo and Junior Firpo all left out of coach Ernesto Valverde’s 18-man party.

Real Madrid’s squad has no surprises either as Zinedine Zidane picked a 19-man list for the trip to Barcelona.

Ferland Mendy returns after missing Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Valencia through suspension and the Frenchman will replace Nacho at left-back, with Marcelo missing through injury.

Casemiro will be back in the XI after he watched from the bench at Mestalla. The Brazilian was and remains just one yellow card away from a ban and was in danger of missing the Clasico, although Zidane claimed he was merely handed a rest in Valencia.

Eden Hazard is out with an ankle injury picked up last month and in his absence, Madrid could start with four midfielders at Camp Nou.

Toni Kroos and Fede Valverde are set to feature alongside Casemiro and Luka Modric could operate further forward, behind Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema. Isco is another alternative, but the Croatian looks likelier to start.

James Rodriguez, Lucas Vazquez and Marco Asensio all miss out through injury, along with Marcelo and Hazard.

Meanwhile, there is no place in the squad for Brahim Diaz, Alvaro Odriozola or Mariano.
