Fierce rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid go head to head in a rearranged Clasico at Camp Nou tonight.
The match was originally supposed to be played on October 26, yet had to be postponed following mass protests in Barcelona after nine Catalan political leaders were given lengthy prison sentences for their roles in the 2017 Catalan independence referendum.
The arch-rivals are currently level on points at the summit of La Liga, with Zinedine Zidane's Real Madrid missing the chance to leapfrog Barcelona ahead of the latest Clasico on Sunday after a 1-1 draw at Valencia secured by a dramatic last-gasp equaliser from Karim Benzema.
24 hours earlier, Ernesto Valverde's reigning champions had been held 2-2 by Real Sociedad at Anoeta.
As ever with this glamour fixture, the stakes are high and the eyes of the football world will be glued to the action.
La Liga preview
Barcelona vs Real Madrid
Venue: Camp Nou
Date: Wednesday, 18 December, 2019
Kick-off time: 7:00pm GMT, tonight
Prediction
Barcelona 2-2 Real Madrid: Los Blancos had been in excellent form before Sunday, notching four successive league wins.
And despite an under-par display at Mestalla, Benzema's equaliser with the last kick of the game will have given them such a lift before one of the biggest games of the season.
Meanwhile, Barcelona's draw at Anoeta denied them a seventh consecutive victory across all competitions and they will be disappointed not ot have held on despite initially overturning a one-goal deficit thanks to Antoine Griezmann and Luis Suarez.
A draw with plenty of goals, drama and no shortage of cards always seems like a safe bet when these giants collide.
