Lionel Messi's return could not prevent Barcelona from falling to a shock 4-3 home defeat to Real Betis in an extraordinary La Liga encounter at the Camp Nou.
Quique Setien’s side ran out deserved 4-3 winners after a scintillating performance against Ernesto Valverde’s men, having lost their last eight matches at Barca's famous stadium.
Not even two goals from Messi were enough for the Spanish champions, and it was the first time in 15 years that Barca had conceded four goals at home.
The result also marked the first time Barca have lost at home in all competitions since September 2016, and leaves Valverde with plenty of questions to answer if the Blaugrana are to successfully defend their Liga title and also make an impact in the Champions League.
