Barcelona to face Lyon in Uefa Champions League last-16 stage

Barcelona have been drawn against Lyon in the last 16 of this season’s Uefa Champions League.

Ernesto Valverde’s side are chasing their sixth Champions League victory, having last won the competition in 2015, prior to the start of Real Madrid’s run of three successive triumphs.

Barcelona topped Group B, meaning they will have the advantage of playing the second leg at home at the Nou Camp, with the first leg in France.

The Catalan giants were the first team to qualify for the last 16, doing so with two games to spare, and have reached the knockout stages each of the past 15 seasons.

They did so remaining unbeaten in a tricky-looking group that included Inter Milan, PSV Eindhoven and Tottenham, with Lionel Messi’s performance in the win over Spurs at Wembley arguably the highlight of the group stage.

The 1-1 draw with Tottenham on the final matchday saw Barcelona equal Bayern Munich’s record of 29 home Champions League games without defeat, a record they could break in March.

Here’s the Uefa Champions League draw in full for the Last 16…

Schalke vs Man City
Atletico Madrid vs Juventus
Man Utd vs PSG
Tottenham vs Borussia Dortmund
Lyon vs Barcelona
AS Roma vs FC Porto
Ajax vs Real Madrid
Bayern Munich vs Liverpool
