Barcelona chief "rules out" Neymar return this summer as Brazilian tries to force PSG exit

Barcelona have made a shock decision over the return of Neymar .

The 27-year-old left Camp Nou two years ago in a record breaking £200million (€222m) deal and signed a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 champions.

The Catalan giants remain favourites to sign Neymar, but vice president Jordi Cardoner says it should be "ruled out for now".

In an interview with TV3, Cardoner said: "As of today, there's no Neymar case, as the president [Josep Maria Bartomeu] said, and it's complicated.

"We are passive actors. We know he's not happy in Paris and it's a situation that needs to be resolved in Paris.

"We haven't spoken to them. There is a lot of respect between the clubs and if there is a Neymar case one day, we'll talk.

"Today, at this time, it's ruled out."

On Saturday, Neymar watched from the stands as Paris Saint-Germain came from behind to win 2-1 against Rennes in the Trophee des Champions in China.

Goals from Angel Di Maria and Kylian Mbappe secured the victory in Shenzhen and upon the full-time whistle Neymar was even dragged onto the pitch for the celebrations by Italian midfielder Marco Verratti .

The forward returned to training last week after sustaining an ankle injury on international duty.

PSG face Nimes in their opening fixture of the Ligue 1 season next Sunday as they look to defend their title.
