Barcelona step up interest in Man Utd and Liverpool transfer target Kai Havertz

Barcelona are reportedly stepping up their interest in Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz amid competition from Manchester United and Liverpool for his signature.

Havertz, 20, has emerged as one of Europe's hottest properties and United are understood to be weighing up a huge £80million move.

But, according to Sport , Barcelona sent scouts to watch him in Champions League action against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday as they prepare to make their move.

Havertz helped the Bundesliga club to a 2-1 win with another impressive performance, which will almost certainly have increased Barcelona's interest.

It is claimed the Catalan giants have followed him closely throughout the campaign, sending a bigger delegation this week to run the rule over the Germany international.

Bayern Munich are also said to be keen to sign the attacking midfielder, with Liverpool also linked with Jurgen Klopp believed to be a long-time admirer.

Havertz discussed his future in a recent interview with Marca and refused to rule out a move away from Germany.

"I think I've picked up enough international experience at Leverkusen," he told Spanish publication Marca .

"I know the rhythm of these international matches and I'm confident that I can go abroad at any moment and play at clubs outside of Germany.

"For the moment, I want to have a good season. Afterwards, we'll see."

He also hinted at his interest in playing in Spain, when asked if his style suits Barcelona.

"Yes, he responded. "Because Barcelona have a lot of the ball, but there are lots of teams that do that these days, not only Barcelona.

" Real Madrid , for example, are a team that have a lot of possession, although they've been a bit less efficient than Barcelona in recent years."
