Barcelona statement as club reveal Junior Firpo sell on clause after Leeds United transfer

Barcelona have issued a short statement to thank Junior Firpo for his contribution to the La Liga giants.

The Dominican Republic left-back has agreed a four-year deal at Leeds United having completed his medical on Monday evening at the club and signing terms on his new contract.

The move sees Leeds pay Barcelona 15m Euros, or £12.8m, with the Spanish club revealing they have retained a 20 per cent sell-on clause should he move on from Leeds in the future.

In their shirt statement, the Catalonia giants said: "FC Barcelona and Leeds United have reached an agreement for the transfer of Junior Firpo for 15 million euros. Barça will retain 20% of any future sale of the player.

"The Club would like to publicly thank Junior Firpo for his commitment and dedication and wishes him all the best for the future. "

Firpo spent two seasons at the Nou Camp, playing 41 times for the Spanish side and scoring two goals.

He arrives at Leeds to take up the number three shirt at the club and is expected to be the starting left-back when Leeds begin their Premier League campaign at Manchester United next month.
