Barcelona star prefers Arsenal move as Tottenham challenge Edu for Franck Kessie

Welcome to our football.london The Arsenal Way daily news round-up. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all.

Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

Spurs hold talks with Kessie’s camp

Tottenham are pulling away from the competition in the race to sign Ivorian Coast midfielder Franck Kessie. The Express have reported that Manchester United and Arsenal are also interested in signing the 25-year-old.

The player whose currently at AC Milan sees his contract run out at the end of the season.

Clubs will be able to talk to the player about a pre-contract agreement in January. But, Tottenham have already been in touch with Kessie’s representatives.

Our take: It looks like Arsenal might lose this battle, with Spurs looking like strong favourites to sign the player.

Coutinho prefer Arsenal

Barcelona are looking to offload a list of names in their squad to fund transfers in the next two transfer windows and one of them prefers a switch to North London.

Spanish outlet Sport report that 29-year-old, Philippe Coutinho is looking for a return to the Premier League and specifically Arsenal.

But, the move would be only a loan, though the Gunners would be boosted by the reports of Coutinho and his representative preferring Arsenal.

Our take: Arsenal are rebuilding with a young team, but perhaps some experienced options could benefit them.

Maitland-Niles to team up with Mourinho

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is moving closer to securing a loan move to Roma, which will make him Jose Moutinho’s first signing of the new year in January.

According to The Mirror the midfielder has been ‘earmarked’ by Mourinho because of his ability to play in more than one position.

The deal will reportedly allow the Italian club to sign the 24-year-old on a permanent deal after the loan ends.

Our take: A lack of playing time might just see Maitland-Niles move away from the Emirates and if he’s promised that with Roma it could be a tempting offer.
