Matthijs de Ligt's international teammate Frenkie De Jong has urged the Ajax defender to follow him to Barcelona .
Midfielder De Jong was finally unveiled as a Barca player on Friday after his £67million switch from the Dutch champions.
De Ligt looks certain to be the next big name out of the exit door in Amsterdam with Juventus in pole position to land his signature.
Barca had been heading the race before a clutch of other big clubs, including Juve, PSG and Manchester United , attempted to sign De Ligt.
But president Josep Bartomeu hinted that the Catalan giants could still be in the race by saying he "knows" where De Ligt will sign, and has done for some time.
And De Jong thinks his compatriot would be a hit at Barca.
“I'd like to see him [De Ligt] here, but I cannot decide,” he said.
“He has to make that decision with his family. When I saw Barca wanted me to play here, the decision was very easy.”
On the potential signing of De Ligt, Bartomeu said: "I have known where De Ligt will play [next season] for a long time. I still know but I cannot say anything else.”
