La Liga have removed Dani Olmo and Pau Victor from Barcelona’s list of registered players after the club failed to meet a deadline.
Barcelona signed Olmo for a £45m fee from RB Leipzig in August after his impressive performances for Spain at Euro 2024.
He could only be registered on a temporary arrangement until the end of 2024 owing to La Liga’s current financial constraints on Barcelona.
Barcelona could only register Olmo until December 31, and his representatives were reportedly anxious about the Spanish midfielder’s future.
Last week, Barcelona went to court to challenge the La Liga governing body and register Olmo for the second half of the 2024-25 season. However, the court sided with La Liga and denied their request. On Monday, 30th December, another court rejected Barcelona’s appeal, leaving them scrambling for solutions.
La Liga Remove Olmo From Barcelona’s Registered Players
La Liga issued a statement on New Year’s Eve, confirming they had turned down Barcelona’s proposal to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.
They wrote: “FC Barcelona has not presented any alternative that, in compliance with LaLiga’s economic control regulations, would allow it to register any player after 2 January.”
They have removed both Olmo and Victor from Barcelona’s registered players list on their website.
Andreas Christensen has returned after the defender was removed to allow Olmo’s temporary registration.
Christensen has only featured once this season due to suffering an injury on the opening day of the campaign. This opened the door for Olmo’s registration.
Omlo shared photos on social media celebrating New Year’s Eve with the caption : “It’s 2025 time.” He ended the message with an apparent reference to Barcelona’s blaugrana colours.

Premier League Clubs Interested In Signing Olmo
La Liga’s decision to remove Dani Olmo from Barcelona’s list of registered players will alert Premier League clubs.
Manchester City and Manchester United – as well as other European sides including Bayern Munich – are reportedly interested in signing Olmo.
Barca do not want to lose Olmo for free, as it would be a massive financial loss and hurt their sporting project.
The La Liga giants therefore will be keen to sort out his registration situation as soon as possible.
Olmo has played 15 games for Barcelona in all competitions so far. He has scored six goals and provided an assist.
