Barcelona star Antoine Griezmann makes surprise Liverpool Premier League claim for one key reason

Barcelona ace Antoine Griezmann has admitted he hopes Liverpool can win the Premier League title, and has also revealed the reason why he admires the Reds.

The World Cup winner completed a £107m move to the La Liga champions from Atletico Madrid earlier this month.

In an interview with Sky Sports, the 28-year-old described his ambitions of playing alongside Arsenal's Alexandre Lacazette at club level before opening up on his Liverpool admiration.

Griezmann admitted: "As a player I would like to play with Alexandre Lacazette. He's a friend of mine off the field and we've played together for the national team. He's got a lot of talent."

Antoine Griezmann officially announces his departure from Atletico Madrid

The Frenchman will play alongside Philippe Coutinho at Barcelona despite the playmaker's uncertain future at Camp Nou.

It was rumoured Griezmann would be taking the No.7 shirt from the Brazilian, until last week when he was unveiled as Barca's new No.17.

The France star continued: "In terms of teams I admire Liverpool because of the fans. Hopefully one day they will win the league again."

Liverpool agonisingly missed out on the league title to Manchester City by one point but made up for that heartbreak by being crowned Champions League winners in Madrid.
