Barcelona star admits Liverpool defeat continues to haunt La Liga champions ahead of new season

Liverpool's Champions League comeback win over Barcelona is still affecting the Catalan giants according to Sergi Roberto.

The Spaniard admitted the manner in which the season ended has added more pressure to succeed this term.

Jurgen Klopp's side left the La Liga winners shell-shocked with a 4-0 serving in the European Cup semi-final second leg.

The subsequent fallout following the Reds' Anfield masterclass saw Ernesto Valverde's team end their campaign in shock defeat to Valencia in the Copa del Rey final.

Referring to May's double dampener, speaking to TV3, Roberto said: "We start the season with more pressure than last year because of everything that happened at the end of last season."

Barcelona have added superstars Frenkie de Jong and Antoine Griezmann to their roster in order to prevent a similarly sour ending in 2020.

The versatile full-back continued: "But I also think we’ve gone up a level. The signings we have made so far have increased the level of the squad."
