Barcelona signing Francisco Trincao: Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are my idols

Barcelona's January signing Francisco Trincao says Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are his idols – and revealed his excitement about linking up with the Argentine at Camp Nou.

The Portuguese winger signed for Barca from Sporting Braga for €31million (£27m) in the winter window, but will not link up with the Catalan club until the end of the season.

"I was proud that Barca called me," he said in a video chat with the Blaugrana. "I'm very excited about wearing the shirt of the best club in the world.

"I'm looking forward to meeting my team-mates, training with them and sharing the dressing room."

Asked to name his idols, he said: "Messi and Cristiano."

"And on the Argentine, he added: "I'm really looking forward to meeting him and learning from him, because we are talking about one of the best players in the world."

Trincao was joined at Braga by Barcelona striker Abel Ruiz in January and revealed he has been getting advice from the Catalan forward.

"Abel has told me about the city, the club and my team-mates," he said. "He has told me to be myself."
