Barcelona set for major shake-up as they rebuff transfer enquiries for Arthur Melo

Brazil star Arthur Melo has been told he is going nowhere as Barcelona begin a major shake-up at the Nou Camp.

The Spanish giants are ready to listen to offers for Croatia midfielder Ivan Rakitic and fellow veteran Arturo Vidal which could put English clubs on red alert when the transfer window re-opens.

But even though they are building a new-look midfield, it is clear that 23-year-old Melo has a big future at the club.

Barcelona have had enquiries for the Brazil international but they have all been rebuffed with a clear message that he is not for sale.

Melo struggled under former boss Ernesto Valverde but is now ready to blossom under new coach Quique Setien, especially when the season restarts.

Melo has extended his own home gym, he is following a strict training plan with three hour sessions six times a week and the regime is supported by a fitness coach and nutritionist.

There has been question marks over his fitness and weight in the past but he is confident now with the right diet and regime he will be at full fitness.

Barcelona players have already taken a 70 per cent pay cut amid the coronavirus crisis as Spain is in lockdown with clubs facing difficult financial times and uncertainty when they will restart.
