Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov has urged Barcelona to sign a new striker amid reports linking them with a move for Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but has warned the Spanish giants that they will have to manage any player they bring in carefully.
The La Liga giants are on the hunt for a new centre-forward after Luis Suarez was ruled out for six weeks.
Despite boasting Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann in their ranks, reports have linked them with a loan bid to sign Aubameyang.
The Gunners' star striker has only 18 months left on his current contract and although it seems unlikely he will move this month, a summer transfer is not beyond the realms of possibility.
With that in mind, Berbatov believes that Barcelona are crying out for a new striker either on loan or long-term, but it comes with a warning.
"You would have to manage the players and their egos, this is the situation with big clubs and you need to be really good with man-management," Berbatov told Betfair.
"I'm not counting Messi in that though, because he will always be the first on the team sheet, even with one leg. You don't want unhappy players on your hands that's for sure.
"Barcelona need to find out if they want someone on a loan deal until Suarez is fit, or they buy someone for the long run."
Arsenal are looking to bring in a centre-back and cover in midfield before next week's deadline, although they are looking in the loan market after an outlay of over £100million in the summer.
