Barcelona sensation Ansu Fati sets new La Liga record with latest display

Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati has etched his name into the history books once again after scoring twice in the 2-1 win over Levante on Sunday.

The teenage sensation struck in the 30th and 31st minute at Camp Nou to hand Los Cules victory.

Fatu opened the scoring by latching onto Lionel Messi’s through ball to slot into the back of the net.

And just seconds after the restart, he was again teed up by Messi, drilling in low at the near post to double the advantage.

That feat ensured that Fati became the youngest player to score a brace in La Liga.

The Guinea-Bissau-born attacker’s double was struck at the age of 17 years, 94 days.

That sees him surpass the record set by Real Zaragoza’s Juanmi Jimenez, back in 2010, who was 17 years, 115 days.

"It's a dream. I always dreamed about this and it has been fulfilled," Fati said post-game. "Thank you all for this opportunity.

"They just told me [about the record], but hey, I have nothing to say, to keep improving and take every opportunity.

"My teammates make everything easier from day one and I'm grateful to each one. It's not easy for them to behave so well and I'm very grateful.

"I want to keep on improving and believing in myself in this team."

Fati has made 19 appearances for Barcelona so far this term, scoring five goals.

Despite Barca's victory, boss Quique Setien wasn't completely pleased with their display.

"I am happy with some things, but not with everything," he stated.

"We played well in the first half and created chances, but we should have scored more goals."

"We gave away too many opportunities to Levante, and this is a game that could have end 8-2 or 8-3."
