Barcelona said to be very impressed with one Liverpool star after Champions League defeat

Barcelona are still licking their wounds after Liverpool came back from the dead to knock them out of the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Reds were 3-0 down after the first leg in Spain, but a 4-0 victory at Anfield - achieved without Roberto Firmino or Mohamed Salah - ended Barca's European campaign in shocking fashion.

And the Catalan giants are said to have been very impressed with one Liverpool star in particular: Andy Robertson.

So much so that reports in Spain claim that Barcelona have identified the player as the "type of player" they should be targeting.

Robertson, 25, joined Liverpool from Hull City in 2017 and began his career in Scotland with lower league side Queen’s Park.

The Scotland captain has enjoyed a brilliant season with the Reds and played a significant role in helping Jurgen Klopp’s men to reach the Champions League final.

Robertson has provided 13 assists this season and showed his quality against Barcelona once again. Now, reports in Spain suggest that the defender has caught the eye of his midweek opponents.

Liverpool told to make surprise signing from Chelsea this summer

Mundo Deportivo reports Robertson is the type of player Barca will be targeting - despite the fact the Scot is under contract at Anfield until 2024.

The former Dundee United man cost a mere £8million when arriving from Hull City in 2017. Given the two clubs struck a deal for Philippe Coutinho that exceeded £100 million, one would expect a similar price range being the starting point for Robertson.

And added to which, Michael Edwards negotiated a clause that states Barcelona must pay a premium for any Liverpool player they try to sign in future.

This is how Liverpool's Champions League final preparations could shape up

Robertson is certainly not going to be leaving Anfield any time soon... but these rumours underline just how far he has come.

The 25-year-old left the field with an injury during Liverpool’s astonishing 4-0 victory against Barcelona midweek, but he is expected to be fit for the Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur next month.
