Barcelona's Raphinha labelled 'the worst' as ex-Leeds United star slammed by Italian media

Former Leeds United winger Raphinha has been put to the sword by the Italian media after his poor performance for Barcelona against Inter Milan in the Champions League last night.

The Brazilian swapped Elland Road for the Nou Camp in the summer transfer window but has struggled to adjust to his new club, scoring just once in his first nine games.

The Spanish giants dropped to third in Group C after their 1-0 defeat, sitting only above Czech club Viktoria Plzen and off the pace of Bayern Munich and Inter above them.

The 25-year-old was subbed off after 64 minutes and was voted 'Il Peggiore' - meaning 'The Worst' by newspapers Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport.

Gazzetta point out that Raphinha "never bites, cuts in without purpose, doesn’t shoot and never finds the end product". They also said that Barcelona manager Xavi’s decision to take him off was "even late", meaning they believe he should have substituted him sooner.

Both newspapers also gave him a 5/10 rating for his performance, with Gazzetta commenting: "What is there to remember about his match?"

Corriere said Raphinha has "more smoke than fire" and that he "struggled to get past Matteo Darmian all evening", who was sold by Manchester United back in 2019 to Serie A club Parma.

Either way, it's clear that the move hasn't started well for the Brazilian and will need to find form quickly if he wants to help his side make it out of the group stage and into the Champions League knockouts.
