Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele 'rejected' Anfield move and other Liverpool transfer rumours rated

Liverpool continue to be linked with a host of players, as the transfer window comes into its final stages.

After recent deals for Thiago and Diogo Jota following the earlier purchase of Kostas Tsmikas, the focus is now expected to switch to outgoings.

But as fresh rumours about the potential new Anfield arrivals continue to surface, we have taken a look at the latest pieces of gossip to see what they could mean for the Reds.

Who?

Ousmane Dembele.

Where?

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, cited by the Mirror, Liverpool were keen to sign the Frenchman on loan with an option to buy.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, according to the report, was convinced that Liverpool would sign Dembele this summer, only for the Barcelona star to reject a move to the Premier League.

What?

Dembele has long been linked with a move to Anfield ever since it became apparent that he would be leaving Borussia Dortmund.

And given the Reds recently secured the services of Diogo Jota, it could well be the case that Dembele was eyed earlier this summer.

However, following the signing of Jota, it is hard to see the Anfield club making a move for the Frenchman again this summer.

Who?

Gini Wijnaldum.

Where?

Catalunya Radio -via VoetbalPrimeur - are reporting that the Dutchman’s name is still “buzzing in the corridors” at the Camp Nou and Ronald Koeman remains keen on bringing him to the club this summer.

What?

Wijnaldum continues to be linked with a move away from Anfield, with the player still yet to extend his contract which expires next summer.

Klopp has insisted that the arrival of Thiago Alcantara will not mean that any of his current talent would have been offloaded.

There was plenty of talk that Wijnaldum would be allowed to leave in order to make way for Thiago, but that is not the case.

No midfielder has made more appearances for Liverpool than Wijnaldum since his arrival in 2016, and has been crucial to the club’s success in recent seasons.

Who?

Giovanni Reyna.

Where?

German publication Bild - via NBC Sports - is reporting that Klopp is keen on Reyna.

According to the report, the German is keeping a close eye on the American midfielder and will plan a move for next summer.

What?

Reyna has a contract coming when he turns 18 which will run through to 2023, and even though Dortmund are expected to want to extend that deal, that wouldn't normally stop the Reds from making their move.

Given Reyna’s young age and impressive form, it is easy to see why he the Reds would be possibly interested.
