Barcelona’s Neymar argues with Manchester City supporter at final whistle

Video from Globosporte shows the Barcelona striker Neymar enter a dispute with a Manchester City fan after Lionel Messi’s penalty is saved by Joe Hart in the final minute of injury time

Neymar became embroiled in an argument with a Manchester City supporter at the end of Barcelona’s 2-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.

The Brazil striker had been replaced by Pedro with 10 minutes remaining of the Champions League first leg tie and was watching the rest of the match from the bench. He appeared to be drawn into an argument with a fan wearing a City home shirt with Yaya Touré’s name on the back after Lionel Messi saw his penalty saved by Joe Hart in the final minute of injury time to keep the score at 2-1.

The matter seemed to be over when the final whistle was blown but further footage shows the 23-year-old approach the supporter and the pair exchange words.

“I was just playing with him. He began to curse me and I ended up mocking him,” Neymar told Brazilian media.

“What he told me? I can not repeat it, no. My mother gave me an education. What his mother did not tell him, my mother taught me.”
