Barcelona's Denis Suarez 'close to securing next transfer' after Arsenal flop

Denis Suarez is close to securing a move to Celta Vigo as he looks to put his disappointing spell at Arsenal behind him.

The Barcelona winger was loaned out to the Gunners in January for the remainder of last season, but barely played due to suffering a groin injury.

An option to buy Suarez was included in the loan agreement between the two sides, but Arsenal boss Unai Emery has decided not to keep the 25-year-old on his books.

The Sun report that Suarez will now join Barca's La Liga rivals Celta in a permanent deal.

Reports in Spain state that executives from both Spanish clubs met on Saturday to discuss terms of the deal.

Suarez is now expected to sign a four-year deal, in a move which could see him become Celta's record transfer signing.

Barcelona want £13.5 million plus add ons to part with Suarez, and the clubs have reportedly come to a "definite agreement" over the sale.

Suarez managed just six appearances during his time at Arsenal, who are now pursuing other options.

One player they are keen on is Dortmund winger Jacob Bruun-Larsen , who is valued at around £15 million.

They face competition from Liverpool and Man Utd though, who are also said to be keeping tabs on the 20-year-old Dane.

Emery is operating on a limited budget this transfer window, and may be forced to sell players in order to reinvest in his squad.

Last season's joint-top goalscorer in the Premier League, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has been the subject of interest from United, and the Gunners are open to offers for the Gabonese star.

The club have reportedly claimed they will not accept any offer lower than £56 million for the 30-year-old however, which is the same amount they paid to prise him away from Dortmund in January last year.
