Barcelona respond to fresh Man Utd approach for Ansu Fati after Jadon Sancho transfer stalls

Manchester United have made a fresh approach for Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati, according to reports in Spain.

United’s move for Jadon Sancho has stalled with the club in a stand-off with Borussia Dortmund over their £100million valuation.

According to Sport, it has led to the Red Devils making a fresh enquiry for Fati, 17, who has enjoyed a breakthrough season at the Nou Camp.

But they claim that the Catalan club have once again made it clear he is not for sale under any circumstances with United forced to look elsewhere.

Fati has scored seven goals in 24 La Liga appearances and Jorge Mendes was said to be involved in talks over a stunning United switch earlier this summer.

Barcelona insisted then that he would not be allowed to leave and their stance remains unchanged.

Fati has a huge £150million release clause in his contract, which will reportedly double when he turns 18 in October.

Sport claimed that a move now would still cost United less than a move for Sancho due to his significantly lower wages and agent fees.

But Barcelona are planning to fast-track the activation of the clause to double his release clause and tie him down.

Sancho, meanwhile, appeared to indicate long-term plans at Dortmund after their first pre-season friendly as he talked up their “special young players” and his own leadership role.

"I love playing with this lot,” Sancho declared. “It is a special bunch.

“We've got some special young players coming up. I am really happy to share the pitch with them and guide them.

“I was once in their shoes, playing with the seniors. I am happy for them.

“I joined when I was 17. Some of the lads are the same age.

“I've been there and done that. I can guide them in what’s good and what isn’t. I can hopefully motivate them as well.”
