Barcelona 'rejected opportunity' to complete £45m transfer of Premier League star

Barcelona reportedly rejected the chance to sign Lucas Moura from this summer.

Moura, 27, has featured in three of Spurs' matches so far this season, scoring the equaliser in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City .

The Brazilian also scored a hat-trick to fire Spurs to the Champions League final last season.

But that didn't manage to win Spurs over, with the north London club reportedly willing to let Moura depart during the summer transfer window.

Mundo Deportivo reports Moura was on Barcelona's radar this summer as they eyed attacking reinforcemens.

But while Spurs were open to reaching an agreement, they demanded Barca pay at least £45m (€50m) to sign the former PSG forward.

That price tag led to Barca boss Ernesto Valverde pursuing other options.

The Spanish champions also considered making a move for Christian Eriksen, but the Dane will also remain in north London.

Moura was an unused substitute during Sunday's north London derby draw with Arsenal .

Speaking after the clash, boss Mauricio Pochettino insisted he would be delighted once the European transfer window had closed.

"Tuesday, we party. Finish the transfer window after tomorrow, I think Tuesday we are going to make a big party and celebrate," the Spurs boss said.

"Because I think it was my worst period after five years in Tottenham ."
