Barcelona pull out of Donny van de Beek race and more Manchester United transfer rumours

After previous speculation surrounding Donny van de Beek's Manchester United future, one of the clubs said to be interested, Barcelona, have pulled out of the running according to reports.

The 24-year-old netted just his second Premier League goal for the Reds - which turned out to be the last one scored under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - in the 4-1 defeat to Watford on Saturday.

After his lack of playing time under the Norwegian, there were murmurs of discontent from the Dutchman as he struggled to become a regular first-team fixture resigned to the bench or as a late substitute.

Spanish outlet Sport reveals that Barcelona have moved away from the possibility of signing the former Ajax man.

The Catalonians were said to have contacted Van de Beek over a possible transfer earlier this year but since the arrival of Xavi, it has been reported that the World Cup-winning midfielder has vetoed the deal due to the current resources they have available.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have reportedly contacted Borussia Monchengladbach over Denis Zakaria's availability.

He has turned down talks to extend in the German league and has already sounded out a move to the Premier League. The impending departure of Paul Pogba could also play a part in the deal with Manchester United's need for midfield stability in the middle of the park.

Blick report that the Reds have made a move for the Swiss midfielder who could be available next summer with a signing on bonus of up to £10m on top of the summer offer.

Adding a January move could be on the cards but their intentions could be to push for a move ahead of the next campaign.
