Barcelona president reveals club's stance on Neymar transfer

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has revealed his club's stance on a possible move to bring Neymar back to the Camp Nou this summer.

The Brazilian is believed to be on the verge of leaving current club Paris Saint-Germain this summer after two seasons with the Ligue 1 champions.

Barca are said to be at the front of the queue to sign the 27-year-old, two years after he left the Spanish giants in a world-record move costing close to £200m.

And speaking at a press conference after unveiling new signing Frenkie De Jong, Bartomeu offered an update on Barcelona's efforts to sign Neymar.

“We know that Neymar wants to leave PSG, but we also know that PSG do not want him to go," said the 56-year-old.

Neymar is not the only forward Barcelona have been linked with this summer, with the Spanish side also keen on a move for Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann.

And Bartomeu, who was recently confirmed as Barca's new sporting vice-president, also provided an update on that transfer saga during the press conference to unveil De Jong.

"There is interest in Griezmann. Yesterday (Thursday) our CEO, Òscar Grau, met with Miguel Ángel Gil (of Atletico)," added Bartomeu.

It could be an expensive summer for Barcelona, with both Neymar and Griezmann set to cost in excess of £100m each.

PSG are keen to recoup what they paid for the Brazilian two years ago, while the Frenchman has a £107m release clause written into his Atletico contract.

That means Barca will also have to move some players on in the summer, with Brazilian winger Malcom among those set to depart.

The 22-year-old only arrived from Bordeaux last year, but has struggled to make an impact in Spain and has reportedly been offered to Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham among others.
