Barcelona 'prepare to open transfer talks' over staggering Neymar return

Barcelona are in the process of stepping up their pursuit of Neymar but Paris Saint-Germain are standing firm over their valuation of the wantway star.

The Brazilian superstar left Barcelona for the French giants back in 2017, in a world record-breaking £189million switch, but wants a return to Spain.

Despite winning back-to-back league titles in France, the 27-year-old forward is unhappy at PSG and has made clear his desire to seek pastures new.

And Goal has now reported that PSG have seemingly accepted that Neymar wants to leave but will only do business with Barca if the Spaniards meet their asking price.

It is claimed that the French club have slapped a £200m price tag on Neymar and are even reluctant to strike a deal with their European rivals.

Relations between both clubs soured after Neymar left Spain for France two years ago, with Goal even suggesting that the transfer may well have already happened had the potential suitor been another club other than Barca.

Meanwhile Kylian Mbappe has expressed his desire to see Neymar stay at PSG.

Neymar has been linked with a return to Barcelona and last month PSG sporting director Leonardo said the forward could leave "if there is an offer which suits everyone" after he failed to report for pre-season training.

The 27-year-old Brazil international, who was ruled out of this summer's Copa America due to an ankle problem, subsequently travelled with the club to China.

When asked about Neymar and if he wanted him to stay, Mbappe was quoted by L'Equipe as saying: "It is as usual.

"He's got a situation that everyone knows. There were no special things. He trained, demonstrated his quality.

"Of course I want him to stay. I've talked to him about it, he knows what I think of him and his situation.

"Everything's fine between us. We have a relationship based on honesty and respect. He knows that I respect him and admire him."
