Barcelona plan Arsenal and Chelsea raid after Gerard Pique suffers injury blow

Barcelona could do their winter shopping in London with two players reportedly earmarked.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barca boss Ronald Koeman is on the lookout for defenders ahead of next month's transfer window following a disappointing start to the La Liga season, the Catalan club currently seventh, albeit with games in hand over some of those above.

The report claims Manchester City's Eric Garcia is the preferred option for the La Liga giants but if they cannot lure the Spaniard back to his home country, they will look elsewhere.

That could, according to the report, lead them to the English capital with Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger and Arsenal's Shkodran Mustafi both earmarked as potential targets.

The report claims Garcia is very much Barca's first option but Rudiger or Mustafi could come into the picture with the Camp Nou club having already failed to land the Man City defender previously.

Man City reportedly asked for £9million to sign Garcia but Barca weren't willing to pay that fee, struggling for cash amid a debt of more than £700million.

Barca's long-serving defender Gerard Pique recently suffered a serious injury that will keep him out until April, leaving Koeman desperate for options at the back in the coming window.

Rudiger could well be a viable option for Barca given the German is out of favour at Chelsea, Frank Lampard preferring Kurt Zouma and Thiago Silva this season.

Rudiger was offered the option of joining West Ham late in the summer window but ultimately decided to stay and fight for his place.

Mustafi, meanwhile, is finding action equally hard to come by, only managing five appearances across all competitions, including just two Premier League outings.

The 28-year-old is expected to be available in the winter window with his contract at Arsenal due to expire in the summer, and that could allow Barca to snap him up on the cheap.
