Barcelona offer Philippe Coutinho to Tottenham, Arsenal and Man Utd: Spurs in pole position to sign Brazilian

Barcelona have offered Philippe Coutinho to Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham ahead of the close of the Premier League transfer window on Thursday, but Standard Sport understands the Gunners are not interested in signing the former Liverpool midfielder.

Coutinho is surplus to requirements at Camp Nou after an indifferent season-and-a-half in the Catalan capital and Barcelona have been searching to find a buyer for the Brazilian this summer.

However, interest in the 27-year-old has been scarce so far and the Blaugrana may have to settle for a loan option, with a view to a permanent transfer in 2020.

Reports earlier on Tuesday claimed Arsenal were close to signing Coutinho, but Standard Sport understands that neither the Gunners nor Man Utd are in for the Barcelona midfielder.

Tottenham now seem best placed to sign the Brazilian on loan, with Sky Sports claiming manager Mauricio Pochettino has been in touch with the player by phone to try and convince him to move to north London.

Coutinho played under Pochettino at Espanyol while on loan from Inter Milan in 2011-12 and the two men have retained a good relationship.

The Brazilian has played 75 games for Barcelona, scoring 21 goals, but has not convinced since his €120million move in January last year and the Blaugrana will save €20m in variables if he is sold before he reaches 100 matches for the Catalan club.

Coutinho moving to Tottenham could also pave the way for Christian Eriksen to seal a switch to Old Trafford, with United keen on signing the Dane given uncertainty regarding Paul Pogba's future.
