Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic responds to Manchester United transfer speculation

Ivan Rakitic insists his future remains at Barcelona despite reports linking him with a potential move to Manchester United.

The Croatian international has been linked with a possible exit from the Nou Camp at the end of the season and it is no surprise that United have been linked with a move.

Arthur has established himself as a key figure in the Barcelona side, while Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong has already agreed a move to the Catalan giants this summer.

As a result Rakitic could be given limited playing time in the future, but the 31-year-old does not have any plans to leave Barcelona in the coming years.

“I don’t want to be anywhere else,” Rakitic said.

“I hope the club, the president, the coach and the fans see this the same way I do. I hope they tell me that I’ll stay here for another three years.

“I’d like to be able to point to the three more years on my contract and to say I’ll be here three more years.”

MEN Sport understand United would prefer to target younger homegrown options in the summer window, and speaking on Friday morning Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed he has held regular meetings about summer recruitment.

"I'll have a final say if a player comes in or goes out," Solskjaer said. "And we've got regular meetings. I'm happy with the way it's going and we're supposed to sign 250 players because you're all writing about players we should sign, so hopefully we can get players in you have written about as well. So you never know."
