Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has 'no intention' of joining Manchester City, amid recent claims that City had lodged a £75million bid for his services.
That is according to a report by El Nacional who claim that the Dutchman is not keen on the idea of joining the Etihad Stadium outfit, although Barcelona are reportedly open to selling him.
In the last few days it had been reported that De Jong will be put up for sale by the Spanish giants following the rise of youngsters Gavi and Pedri, who are poised to become household names in La Liga for years to come.
Once Pedri has returned from injury, it is thought that de Jong's place in the team may come under serious threat.
Although the central-midfielder may find himself struggling for opportunities at the Nou Camp, it is claimed that the Dutchman is prepared to stay and fight for his place, although it could be an almighty challenge.
Furthermore, that decision, according to the report in Spain, has meant that he has no desire to make the move to City.
Meanwhile, City manager Pep Guardiola is 'desperate' to sign highly-rated Paris Saint-Germain youngster Xavi Simons next summer, a report by Fichajes claims.
It is reported that Guardiola is that keen to sign the young prodigy and that he is 'in love' with him.
Simons, who is an 18-year-old midfielder, is considered as one of the brightest prospects emerging in European football and the height of his ceiling is thought to be huge, hence Guardiola's reported desire to lure him to the Etihad Stadium.
The Dutchman started his youth career at Barcelona and made the switch to PSG in the summer of 2019, having turned down a fresh contract offer at the La Liga club.
It is claimed that he joined PSG on a staggering €1million a year contract, despite only being 16 at the time of his arrival in the French capital.
Despite the hype concerning Simons, he has only made two first-team appearances for PSG so far, raising questions about whether or not he will become a regular for the Ligue 1 outfit on a consistent basis.
According to the report, his agent - Mino Raiola - has told the French club that they need to hand Simons more opportunities or he will not sign a new contract at the club. He is out-of-contract at the end of this current season.
With the prospect of him leaving the club in the not too distant future growing, Guardiola is reportedly keen to lure him to City, but is poised to face competition from former club Barcelona.
A whole host of other-big name clubs across Europe are also interested.
