Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman branded "clown" in furious touchline bust-up

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman branded a "clown" and a “moron” by rival player Roberto Soldado after his side were beaten by the Blaugrana in the Copa del Rey.

Barca avoided a potential scare at Granada to secure their spot in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey with a 5-3 win in extra time.

The travelling side scored twice in the final minutes of the 90 to take the tie into extra time, where goals from Antoine Griezmann, Jordi Alba and Frenkie de Jong wrapped the victory.

However, there was huge drama when Griezmann started the comeback in the 88th minute, with many believing his strike should have been ruled out for offside.

The Frenchman scored after when a deflected clearance by Soldado fell at Griezmann’s feet for him to turn home.

The Granada squad made it clear that they felt Griezmann was clearly offside - but former Tottenham striker Soldado took particular offence at coach Koeman’s celebrations on the sidelines.

The pair shared several words as things got incredibly heated at 2-1 in Granada’s favour, before Alba’s first levelled the scores in the 92nd minute.

And a fuming Soldado said after the match: "He's a moron, he's a moron.

"You are a clown, you lack humility.”

However, it appears that Koeman was quick to forget the exchange, instead focussing on the comeback from his own team, though he did take something of a swipe at Granada.

"Football is incredible,” the Dutchman said. “We had chances to win the game far sooner, but we put in an enormous effort, at the end of the second half and in extra-time, showing the mentality of a real team."

Barcelona are next in action on Sunday when they travel to Real Betis.
