Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde insists he isn't thinking of resigning despite Levante defeat

Ernesto Valverde insists he is not contemplating resigning despite Barcelona's shock defeat to Levante.

Lionel Messi gave Barcelona the lead in Valencia, but the home side scored thrice in eight second-half minutes to secure an impressive victory.

Barcelona remain top of La Liga after Real Madrid were held by Real Betis, and Valverde confirmed he does not intend to resign.

"Of course I'm not thinking about resigning, it's just a defeat," Valverde said after the game.

"The players have responded and we have to continue [working].

"We have lost a match and that's it; we always react and this time won't be any different."

Both Real and Barcelona have a game in hand over the rest of the league, with El Clasico rearranged for December 18.

Luis Suarez limped out of the game in the first half with an injury to the right leg before the quick-fire treble from Levante.

The Catalan giants have now lost to Levante, Granada and Athletic Bilbao in the league this season, and been held by Osasuna.

Barcelona face Slavia Prague in Champions League action on Tuesday.

They lead Group F by three points from Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund.
