Barcelona make Philippe Coutinho transfer decision amid Liverpool link

Barcelona have decided they are not going to sell Philippe Coutinho this summer.

Coutinho endured a difficult season at the Nou Camp with sections of the Barca support making their unhappiness clear towards the end of the campaign.

He has spent just 18 months with the Catalan giants following his £142million switch from Liverpool in January 2018.

The Brazilian has been tentatively linked with a return to Anfield, but Paris Saint-Germain had seemed his most likely destination should he move on.

A swap deal was reportedly in the pipeline between Coutinho and Neymar with the PSG star furious with comments made about him in the press by president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

But Coutinho's agent Kia Joorabchian has given an update on the player's future - insisting Barcelona will not sell him in this window.

“I talked a few days ago with Pep Segura [general manager] at Barcelona,” Joorabchian told RMC Sport.

“He told me that the club does not want to sell Coutinho this summer, no matter what.

“We have not had any contact with PSG."

Coutinho found the net just 11 times in 53 outings for Barca last term following his switch from Liverpool.

He spent five years on Merseyside, scoring 54 goals in 201 appearances for the Reds.
