Barcelona midfielder Arthur Melo will be sidelined for between three and four weeks with a hamstring problem, the Catalan club have revealed.

The 22-year-old played all 90 minutes of Wednesday night's Clasico clash against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey at Camp Nou, but experienced discomfort at the end of the 1-1 draw and underwent tests on Friday.

"Tests carried out have confirmed that the first team player Arthur Melo has a left hamstring injury," Barcelona said in a statement. "He is expected to be out for around three to four weeks."

That means the midfielder will miss the Champions League last-16 first leg game away to Lyon on February 19, plus the return meeting with Real in the Copa del Rey semi-finals eight days later.

Barca hope he will be back in time for the Catalans' clash with Real at the Bernabeu on March 2, just over three weeks from now.

Meanwhile, there was better news for Barca concerning centre-back Samuel Umtiti, who returned to training on Friday as he recovers from a knee injury which has seen the defender sidelined since November.
