Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta sends message to Yoshinori Muto after leaving Newcastle United

Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta has welcomed his new team-mate Yoshinori Muto on social media after the former Newcastle United striker signed for Vissel Kobe.

The Japanese international suffered a nightmare three-year spell on Tyneside after signing from Bundesliga outfit Mainz in a £9.5m deal.

Muto would score just twice in 28 appearances in black-and-white before spending a forgettable loan spell in La Liga with Eibar last term.

In the end, United and the 29-year-old agreed to mutually terminate a deal which still had a further year to run this summer.

Muto has returned to Japan following six years in Europe after signing for J1 League outfit Vissel Kobe, and has been pictured in training with his new team-mates such as the Barcelona and Spain legend Iniesta.

The World Cup winner spent an incredible 16 seasons in Barcelona's senior side before signing for his current club in the summer of 2018.

Iniesta's reputation within the sport has led to the 37-year-old accumulating more than 37m followers on Instagram, and the playmaker took time out to introduce his new team-mate in his story on Thursday.

He posted: "Bienvenido @yoshinori_muto-09."
