Barcelona issue Arturo Vidal update amid Manchester United speculation

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde says he is still 'counting on' Arutro Vidal amid suggestions he could leave for Manchester United.

The Chilean midfielder has found game time limited at Barcelona this season and reports suggest a move to United or Inter Milan could be on the cards this month.

Vidal is reportedly unhappy with his current role at Barcelona and is keen to seek a move away as he looks to rejuvenate his career in the New Year.

MEN Sport understand Vidal is not a priority transfer for United although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bolster his midfield ranks in January if possible.

However, Valverde insists Vidal still has a role to play at the Nou Camp and says the 32-year-old will feature in Thursday night's Supercopa meeting with Atletico Madrid.

“I’ve talked to Arturo Vidal like I have the others,” Valverde said.

“He’s here. For now, I’m counting on him and I’m not thinking about the future.

“We’ll see what happens, but I’m not thinking about his departure. He’ll be on the pitch or on the bench tomorrow.”
