Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen ruled out of Supercopa trip with knee injury

Marc-Andre ter Stegen is out of the Barcelona squad for the Supercopa in Saudi Arabia.

The German goalkeeper has been struggling with tendinitis in his knee and played no part in Saturday's derby draw away to Espanyol in LaLiga.

In his absence, summer signing Neto made his debut at the RCDE Stadium and the Brazilian should start against Atletico Madrid in Thursday's Supercopa semi-final in Jeddah.

With Ter Stegen out, Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has called up young goalkeeper Arnau Tenas for the trip to Saudi Arabia.

Midfielder Arthur Melo and winger Ousmane Dembele are both missing from the 24-man squad, which features a number of young players including Riqui Puig and Ronald Araujo.

Barca face Atletico on Thursday and if the Spanish champions prevail, they will meet the winner of Wednesday's semi-final between Valencia and Real Madrid in Sunday's showpiece game.
