Barcelona forward Malcom ruled out of Champions League clash with Tottenham due to sprained ankle

Barcelona forward Malcom has been ruled out for up to two weeks with a sprained ankle, meaning he will miss Tuesday's Champions League clash with Tottenham.

The Spanish league leaders announced that the Brazilian would be out for “10 to 15 days” after hurting his right ankle in the Copa del Rey win over Cultural Leonesa on Wednesday night.

Malcom will also miss Saturday's derby with Espanyol and Arturo Vidal, who sat out the Copa del Rey game with flu, is also doubtful – though the Chilean is likely to have fully recovered in time for Spurs’ trip to Barcelona.

Tottenham travel to the Nou Camp needing to match Inter Milan's result at home to PSV Eindhoven to qualify for the Champions League knockout stage.

Barcelona are already confirmed as winners of Group B, having taken 13 points from their first five matches while scoring 13 goals and conceding just four.

The also lead La Liga by a point from Sevilla – with rivals Real Madrid five points adrift in fifth – and have lost just two of their 22 games in all competitions this season.
