Barcelona forward, Atletico Madrid full-back and more shrewd January deals Everton could target

The January transfer window is fast approaching, which means Everton could be looking at adding some reinforcements to their squad.

Rafa Benitez has been forced to deal with a number of injuries to key players throughout this season, with the situation seemingly not improving as the weeks go on.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been absent since the end of August, while there are fresh injury concerns over Richarlison, Seamus Coleman and Andros Townsend.

With money tight, Everton will need to be clever in the transfer market in order to get value on any potential new arrivals.

One market which could benefit the Blues are those players who are edging towards the end of their contract - and could be free to negotiate with other clubs as a result.

This January will see yet more players in that very situation, and there may be some that Everton would be wise to take a look at.

It’s not just pre-contract agreements that Everton could look at, with some players also likely to be available in cut-price deals so the selling clubs do not lose them for nothing a few months later.

So which players could Everton realistically target? Here are some players in different categories that deserve to be considered.
