Barcelona favourites to sign Sergio Aguero as Man City eye Erling Haaland as replacement

Sergio Aguero will leave Manchester City at the end of the season and Barcelona could be his next destination.

It was announced on Monday evening that Aguero would leave City at the end of the season when his current deal at the club expires, and already speculation has begun over where he might play next.

Despite Aguero struggling for fitness this season, there won't be a lack of potential suitors for one of the Premier League's finest ever goalscorers, and Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus have been made favourites to secure his signature.

At 32 years old, it's likely Aguero still has a number of years left to play at the highest level, and his legendary reputation - which he's earned by scoring netting 257 goals in 384 appearances for City - should guarantee a move to one of Europe's biggest sides.

It's unsurprising to see Barcelona heavy favourites to sign Aguero after newly-elected club president Joan Laporta vowed earlier this year to sign the City legend if his campaign was successful.

Of course, since then Laporta has won the Barcelona presidential election, and the opportunity to play alongside fellow countryman Lionel Messi may appeal to Aguero, with their long relationship going back to when they were teenagers.

Although Aguero's minutes for City this season have been limited, he'll leave a mighty void to replace when his exit is sealed.

One such player thought to be the perfect replacement for Aguero is Borrusia Dortmund's Erling Haaland, who City have been increasingly linked to in recent weeks as speculation over his future in Germany grows.

Haaland is the favourite to join City this summer after scoring 33 goals in 31 appearances for Dortmund this campaign, further enhancing his reputation as one of the world's most exciting young forwards.

The 20-year-old seems a generational talent, although Dortmund's reported £150m valuation of Haaland means City will certainly need their cheque book handy if they want to lure the Norweigan to the Etihad.
