Barcelona 'discuss' shock move for Cristiano Ronaldo as Chelsea consider bid in latest transfer rumours

Barcelona are reportedly discussing a move which would shock the footballing world in attempting to bring in former bitter rival Cristiano Ronaldo. The Real Madrid legend spent nine years as Barcelona's most hated rival, before moving on to Juventus and returning to Old Trafford last summer.

But now, Spanish outlet AS are reporting that Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes is in Barcelona meeting with Barca president Joan Laporta with several transfer options 'on the table' - and claim that they include United's superstar striker.

The report claims that Ronaldo was among the names being discussed - others included Manchester City's Bernardo Silva, Wolves' Ruben Neves and AC Milan's Rafael Leao.

The report states: "Jorge Mendes and Joan Laporta are currently meeting in Barcelona. On the table there are several names such as Ruben Neves, Rafa Leao and Bernardo Silva, but also Cristiano Ronaldo.

"As AS has been able to learn, the Barça president and the Portuguese star's agent are currently discussing the possibilities that exist for the ex-Madrid player to join the Barça ranks this summer. Mendes and Laporta have dinner with Cristiano on the table. It remains to be seen if it was the main course, the starters or the dessert. But the Portuguese star was on the tablecloth."

Elsewhere, The Guardian are now reporting that Chelsea are considering making a move for Cristiano Ronaldo. Although the report adds that Chelsea's co-owner Todd Boehly - while 'intrigued' by the idea of signing United's superstar - is set to consult with manager Thomas Tuchel first, and it remains to be seen with Tuchel is sold on the idea.

Manchester United were back in training today, with Ronaldo originally slated to be back, he remained in Portugal. The team are set to fly out to Bangkok on Friday for a 16-day pre-season tour.
