Barcelona deal Chelsea crushing 4-0 defeat to claim Women's Champions League title

Barcelona ripped Chelsea apart to secure the Women's Champions League title in a stunning 4-0 victory.

The win comes just one week since the Spanish club claimed the Primera Division trophy with eight games left to play.

Chelsea were stunned in the first 30 seconds as they scored an own goal through Melanie Leupolz after pressure from Barca.

Pernille Harder showed some promise and almost equalised two minutes later but keeper Sandra Panos saved well.

It went from bad to worse for the Blues as Barca were awarded a penalty and Alexia Putellas converted from the spot.

The Spanish giants then completely dominated Chelsea's midfield as they found heaps of space to score their third through Aitana Bonmati.

Caroline Graham Hansen slotted the Spaniard's fourth and the game looked out of sight for Chelsea heading into the break.

Emma Hayes' started the second half well, creating more chances and pressing Barca.

However, Lluis Cortes' team continued to display their class despite failing to score again.

The London club came close to netting a consolation, again through Harder, but her header played into Panos' hands.

Chances came from both sides and Barcelona looked as though they added a fifth but Asisat Oshoala was ruled offside.

While the Blues made history to make the final, they were purely outclassed by a sensational Barcelona side.
