Barcelona chief on "logical" transfer plan to sign Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Barcelona chief Eric Abidal has hinted the club could make a move to sign Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the summer transfer window.

The Gabon international has previously been linked with a move to Barcelona, but the Nou Camp giants failed to make a bid for him in January.

Barcelona aren't short of attacking players, but former left-back Adibal says the club is looking at the prospect of signing a new number nine.

There appears to be a number of strikers on the Catalan giants' radar, but former Dortmund star Aubameyang looks to be at the top of their list.

"I know him [Aubameyang]. He has a profile that has depth. He is important, and in his team he is decisive," Abidal told Spanish outlet Sport.

"It is good to bring this profile of player who can be in the market and can help you. We'll see what will happen.

"It is logical that in summer a 'nine' will come. It is a necessity. We know that Suarez will come back strong, but you have to bring a top player in the summer.

"There is a list with players like [Olivier] Giroud, [Fernando] Llorente or Aubameyang, but for one thing or another we decided not to sign [someone in January]."
