Barcelona boss reacts to Jurgen Klopp's stadium comments and fires Luis Suarez warning to Liverpool

Ernesto Valverde expects Liverpool to feel the power of the Nou Camp as the Barcelona boss declared that Luis Suarez is fired up to deliver against his former club.

Valverde was asked about Jurgen Klopp's description of the iconic arena as “just a stadium, not a temple” which was pounced on by the Spanish media.

He didn't criticise the Liverpool manager but he believes that managing a team at the Nou Camp for the first time will leave a lasting impression on the German coach.

“I also like to de-dramatise these kind of things,” Valverde smiled.

“Camp Nou fans have been decisive in the past few weeks. We've had games with over 90,000 fans.

"We feel it, our rivals feel it and I hope they feel it tomorrow.

“Our fans will be pushing us in the same way as their fans will do at Anfield.

“With Jurgen's words, I think the idea was to take some of the drama out of the game. It's still a football pitch with two goals and 22 players trying to play.”

Suarez has endured a gruelling schedule in recent months but Valverde insist the Uruguayan isn't feeling the strain ahead of the showdown with the Reds.

“It's true he has played every game. I would have maybe liked to have given him a bit of rest against Levante but I prioritised as he makes us better and helped us to keep the result in order to win the title.

“Between winning the league and not giving Luis a rest, I'd rather win the league.

"I have a feeling he's motivated to play against Liverpool but Luis Suarez is motivated to play against every team. He is like that.

“This is a Champions League semi-final and everyone will go all out for it.

"I don't think tiredness is a big factor here. We are ready for it.”
