Barca to trigger Partey release clause
Barcelona are set to trigger Thomas Partey's release clause this summer.
The Ghanaian midfielder is keen to leave Atletico Madrid this summer, with Arsenal high up on his list of admirers.
Yet fresh reports say the Gunners are yet to make an official bid for the player, despite Mikel Arteta rating him highly.
Instead, Barca have entered the race to sign him and could possibly gazump the Gunners in the process.
Partey's release clause stands at £44.8m and Barca are said to be more than willing to swoop in and trigger it if Arsenal put off placing an official bid for the player.
Wenger shoots down chairman claims
Arsene Wenger has rejected calls for him to become Arsenal's new chairman.
It was announced last week that Sir Chips Keswick had retired after seven years at the helm of the club.
The likes of Martin Keown reacted by claiming that Wenger would be the perfect answer to replace the long-serving Keswick.
Yet Wenger has given the idea short shrift.
"The candidate says there is no candidate," he joked when asked about the role.
Why Bellerin and Tierney can flourish under Arteta
In a short space of time, Mikel Arteta has established a clear identity for his Arsenal side.
Whilst Arteta's Gunners are still a work in progress, a consistent approach has started to emerge that seems to be similar no matter what personnel changes are made.
Perhaps this is most evidenced at full-back.
A wide array of players have featured on both the left and right flanks under Arteta, including the likes of players coming back from injury, youngsters and centre-backs.
Yet, each time he has been forced into changing his full-backs, Arteta has kept their roles relatively similar.
It means that, when the group returns to full fitness, both Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney could well flourish under the Spaniard's tutelage.
