'Operation Neymar' for Barcelona and Real Madrid as Brazilian star set to exploit transfer loophole

Brazilian superstar Neymar could leave Paris Saint Germain this summer for £41m less than what the French big-spenders paid for him in 2017.

The staggering development will send shockwaves around Spain with both Real Madrid and Barcelona on red alert with the mercurial playmaker poised to be available.

Sport claim Neymar is exploring a FIFA clause that allows players who have spent three years at a club, and signed that deal under the age of 28, to broker a compensation fee for their services.

And various reports suggest that price will be £157m - significantly less than the mammoth £198m Les Parisians paid for him three years ago.

Neymar is understood to be desperate for a return to Barcelona but Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane remains a huge admirer of the 28-year-old superstar.

But a return to the Nou Camp for the Brazilian would appease their star man Lionel Messi who forged a deadly partnership with his fellow South American.

Reports of a rift between Neymar and sporting director Leonardo have been swirling around for months but the PSG decision maker heaped praise on his key man last month.

Leonardo said: "Neymar was born this way.

"God gave him his talent and what he is doing is tremendous.

"Today, if we talk about the pitch, what are we saying? He is committed, very happy and a fantastic player. He is very fit. We are happy to have him. Wonderful."

PSG certainly don't have their problems to seek with the world's best teams also monitoring Neymar's teammate Kylian Mbappe 's situation closely.

Real Madrid are the betting favourites to be the 21-year-old's next club but the Ligue 1 champions are highly unlikely to sanction any deal if the Brazilian departs.
