Barcelona ace Lionel Messi stars in new advert ahead of Man Utd showdown

Barcelona star Lionel Messi has featured in a new advert ahead of his side's Champions League match against Manchester United .

The 31-year-old is set to captain the Catalan club when they travel to Old Trafford on Wednesday night for the first leg of their quarter-final tie.

Ahead of the showdown with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has starred in Gatorade's "Make Them Sweat" campaign alongside Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus.

The international advert shows Messi and Brazilian striker Jesus being put through their paces in training before facing the competition on the pitch and causing all those watching to sweat.

"Working on this new commercial with Gatorade was fun," said the Barcelona skipper.

"I like the concept behind the ad because my opponents always provide motivation to be the best that you can be.

"Gatorade is part of our daily work and helps me to perform better."

Messi will be hoping to be at his best when he lines up against Man Utd for a place in the semi-finals of Europe's elite club competition.

The three-time European champions have seen significant improvement since the arrival of Solskjaer and produced a stunning comeback against PSG in the previous round of the competition to reach this stage.

Meanwhile, Barcelona booked their place in the Last eight after an emphatic 5-1 win in the second-leg of their tie against Lyon.

Messi was on target twice in that match and enters Wednesday's encounter in good form after netting his 33rd league goal of the season on Saturday as the Spanish champions beat Atletico Madrid 2-0 to move 11 points clear at the top of La Liga.

The victory also meant that the Argentine striker has now won more La Liga games than any other player with 335.
