Superstar Barbra Streisand praised Michael Bloomberg for pouring his billions into "good causes" Saturday even as she tweeted a critical investigation of how the ex-mayor has leveraged his philanthropy for political gain.
"A very generous man who puts his money where his mouth is ... especially about climate change, gun safety and so many other good causes," Streisand wrote on Twitter.
The former mayor's philanthropy has been a boon for progressive causes, earning support from Democrats nationwide even as parts of his record give them pause.
The "People" songbird slammed Bloomberg rival President Donald Trump for being forced to shutter his eponymous foundation over fraud charges.
Streisand, 78, tweeted the remarks along with a New York Times investigation that suggested that Bloomberg may have had more than just doing the right thing in mind when he doles out billions.
The media mogul's foundation gave out an estimated $2.3 billion in 2018, which as Streisand says has mostly gone to liberal causes. But Bloomberg has also used the largesse to build a network of potential supporters ahead of his presidential run against Trump, the article detailed.
